To Improve employee retention and engagement in any organization need to understand of the employee expectations and what is the best way to how to address them in the modern business. I will be help to identify what employee want really in the modern business world.

According to SHRM, the top five contributors to job satisfaction in 2017 were

*Respectful treatments of all employees at all levels.

*Compensation/Pay, over all

*Trust between employees and senior management

*Job security

*Opportunity to use skills and abilities in work.


The followings are illustrative examples of employee expectations.

On boarding


The expectation that employee will be provided with everything they need to do their job from the first day. An employee who is left to their own devices without assistance in navigating a new organization may quickly become disappointed. For example, getting days or weeks to grant system access.

Hygiene Factors


Basic expectations that do not increase satisfaction when they are met but create significant dissatisfaction if they aren’t met. For example, not provide water, tea.

Working Conditions


Terms of employment or controls that use to monitor the employees.

Responsibilities


It is common for the responsibilities of a role to differ from employee expectation.  For example, mismatch between the role description and the realities of the job.

Opportunity


Idea that promote the employees within the company to get out side.

Office politics


Expectations regarding internal competition and behavior.


Culture


Expectations for organizational culture as norms.

Work life balance


Ability to disconnect from work messages when on holiday.

Process and procedure


Employees that have worked for an organization for a long span of time may expect things to work much the same at a new job at another firm.

Information


Employee who expects management to explain strategy without needless secrecy.

Feedback


The expectation that an employer provides regular performance feedback. Some will feel insecure if they haven’t good standing with a received recent feedback that indicates they are in good standing with an employer.

Connecting them with company culture, clearly defining the role of each employee, helping them become better, offer more flexibility at work, appreciating & recognizing them, creating room for involvement and creativity are some of strategies which good leaders can follow.
